Self-pay billing rights
Your right to a Good Faith Estimate.
Whole Living is a private-pay practice. If you are uninsured or choose not to use insurance to pay for care, federal law generally gives you the right to receive a written estimate of expected charges before qualifying scheduled care or when you request one.
What this means
- You may request a written Good Faith Estimate of expected charges for your care.
- When care is scheduled sufficiently in advance, federal timing rules may require the estimate to be provided before the scheduled service.
- The estimate is based on information reasonably known at the time it is prepared and is not a guarantee that additional clinically necessary items or services will never be recommended.
- Keep your estimate and compare it with your final bill.
If your bill is substantially higher
If a provider's billed charges are at least $400 more than that provider's Good Faith Estimate, you may be eligible to use the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process. Eligibility and deadlines are determined under federal rules.
